Diversity: Ethnic and cultural

Meeting with two men and one women of diverse backgrounds

AREVA works with local organizations to offer employment opportunities to all members of society, with a desire to create teams that reflect ethnic and cultural diversity.

Actions to encourage youth employment

In 2008, AREVA finalized an ethnic and cultural diversity action plan. This aims to recruit people from minority populations and to raise awareness of the issue within the group.

Every day, AREVA works with different organizations that help young people find work. This can take different forms: “Employment cafés” (meetings between young people and recruitment officers from AREVA); employment diversity forums; work placements for students; sponsorship by AREVA employees of young people to help them find work; etc.

Actions taken to encourage work-study programs

Work-study programs are on the increase throughout Europe. Every year, AREVA employs nearly 1,500 young people on student work placements, representing around 4% of its global workforce. Hundreds of job opportunities are posted on all the group’s sites in France.

Membership of “Plan Espoir Banlieues”: the program to help young people in France’s disadvantaged suburbs

As part of the “Plan Banlieues”, AREVA signed an agreement with the Ministry for the Economy, Finance and Employment in February 2008. The group undertakes to recruit young people under 26 from disadvantaged urban areas or areas covered by special "social cohesion" schemes.

Working in partnership with public employment bodies

AREVA works with many organizations that support employment, both nationally and regionally (chamber of commerce and industry of La Meuse, “Pôle Emploi”, Afpa (adult vocational training body), etc.

The aim is to develop employment hubs in regions where the group operates, particularly through apprenticeship programs related to jobs that are difficult to fill.
