Diversity: Employment of seniors and age management

At a time when AREVA is taking on thousands of new employees every year, the support of experienced personnel to introduce young recruits into the profession has never been more important. Furthermore, the prospect of a longer working life is encouraging us to look more closely at the specific aspirations of seniors and at ways we can make the most of talent at all stages of life.
Specific actions related to seniors
Launch of the seniors policy
This is a concrete action plan based on a dual process of career management and knowledge transfer. It comprises a career assessment interview and an experience assessment.
Today, this policy forms part of the senior action plan for France 2010-2012, which make commitments in five areas:
- anticipation of career evolution;
- development of skills and qualifications and access to training;
- transfer of knowledge and skills and development of mentoring;
- management of the end-of-career phase and of the transition between work and retirement;
- improved working conditions and prevention of physically challenging tasks.
Support for seniors
The group has focused resources on the management and advising of seniors, putting in place a network of well-informed advisors on careers and experience.
Post-retirement collaboration
AREVA offers an innovative system that enables willing employees to continue working with the group after retirement. This scheme has already enabled around 60 employees to continue working for AREVA, its clients and partners, within the framework of a specially created company.
