Diversity: Professional equality for men and women

A man and a woman talking

AREVA has been fighting for many years to give women the same professional opportunities as men. We have stepped up our proactive stance which now includes the sharing of best practice, among other initiatives.

Some examples of best practices

Recruitment

Seeking balanced gender representation among applicants, based on proportions observed for each profession. The WE network, set up in 2007 to work in this area, is expanding.

Professional development/mobility

As part of our geographic mobility opportunities, we may offer relocation assistance to promote employment solutions for the employee’s spouse.

Training

The option of a further orientation period following parental leave of more than six months, in order to support professional development and skills acquisition.

Equal pay

Implementation of a specific budgetary envelope to reduce disparities in salaries that may exist between men and women.

Support for parents

  • 12 child-care centers in France and Germany
  • Concierge services for Parisian sites
  • Guide to interview techniques for pre- and post-parental leave interviews for managers
  • Implementation of “CESU”, a French framework facilitating the legal employment and payment of domestic and casual workers.

The European Gender Equality in the Workplace Awareness Day

In September 2009, AREVA held its first ever Gender Equality in the Workplace Awareness Day across its 55 European sites.

This European awareness-raising day was an opportunity for AREVA employees to:

  • learn more about the group’s commitment and become more proactive;
  • share, understand and act together to make parity a reality.
