Bertrand Barré was educated as a general engineer with a specialization in solid-state physics. He launched his wide-ranging career at the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique in early 1967. Having held research, management and consulting positions, he has gained in-depth knowledge of many technical aspects of energy production. Working with some of the most influential individuals in the industry, he has also experienced first-hand the geopolitical context of energy production. Among other positions, he was Nuclear Energy Attaché for the French Embassy in the United States, Director of Nuclear Reactors for the CEA, Director of Engineering for Technicatome, Vice President of Research and Development for COGEMA, and Vice President of Scientific Communications for AREVA. Now retired, he remains Scientific Advisor for AREVA and Emeritus Professor at the French National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN).
