Live chat: how does it work?
AREVA designed live chat as a tool for discussion, information and knowledge sharing. Easy to use, it allows you to pose questions to energy experts and receive live video responses. Learn how it works.
Live chat - talk about energy and learn about AREVA
Energy is important to everyone and raises plenty of questions. AREVA is strongly committed to a policy of openness and information transparency. That’s why the group wants to facilitate dialogue with experts, to be aware of stakeholder questions and to provide answers. In order to take full advantage of all the Internet has to offer, the group has made available an online video chat service—better known as live chat. The objective? To enable discussion between site visitors and energy companies that is more direct, more spontaneous and more transparent.
A chat session from A to Z
AREVA regularly puts the 3 most popular subjects from the Dialogue section up for public vote. The subject selected by site visitors becomes the theme of a discussion (or live chat) with an expert on the topic. This individual is filmed and responds to questions live, as they are posted, from site visitors who have previously registered.
Questions may be reformulated or summarized by the moderator. Site visitors can ask to receive an e‑mail notifying them when the session starts. They can also invite a friend to take part.
In order to facilitate an in-depth exploration of the subject and help site visitors with their questions, AREVA provides a set of resources on the theme 1-2 weeks before the session starts. At that point, site visitors can begin asking questions.
After the session is closed, questions and answers are transcribed.
Vote for the subject you would like to see addressed in the next chat session and start thinking about your questions!
Using live chat
How do I log in?
Online discussions can be viewed without logging in. To contribute, simply choose a user ID and a password and enter a valid email address. You will then receive a message confirming that your user ID is available. If you already have an account, fill out the "user ID" and "password" fields located in the log in area on the right and click to enter. You are ready to take part!
How do I vote for a topic?
An "Enter your choice" button will appear on the Dialogue landing page. You will have a choice of 3 topics for discussion. Make sure you vote! Once the voting deadline has passed, the results will appear in a chart on this same page. Topics that are not chosen can be proposed again for subsequent sessions.
How do I post a question?
Once you have registered and logged in, you can take part in a live chat and send your questions by clicking on the “Ask your questions now” button. Fill out the 2 mandatory fields on the form. After clicking to enter, you will receive a message confirming that your question was sent.
How will my questions be moderated before publication?
The moderator will check that your question respects the Dialogue section’s user guidelines in terms of content and form. Your question may also be reformulated to make it shorter or clearer and to correct errors in spelling or syntax.
Can I view the content of the discussion once it is over?
Once a session has finished, site visitor questions and the expert’s responses are available in the Dialogue section, along with any related documents. Content is later archived and can be found in the “Video chat archives” section.
What are the minimum system requirements required to take part in live chat?
For optimal video display, you need Flash Player version 8. This software can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website.
