Responsible Investment: AREVA events

Control of the group is guided by its sustainable development strategy and continuous improvement. This relies very heavily on communication with civil society. AREVA regularly initiates consultations with all stakeholders. The group is also involved in global discussions on corporate social responsibility.
Stakeholders' Sessions: for discussion with stakeholders
AREVA wishes to continue to be one of the most dynamic industrial players in terms of communication with its stakeholders. In 2005, a pioneer in the field, the group entrusted to the Committee 21 the role of independent intermediary and organizer of the first "Stakeholders' Session".
Objectives of this innovative mechanism:
- to improve consideration of civil society expectations within AREVA's strategy
- to enhance its reflection and its commitments in terms of sustainable development
In 2007, AREVA initiated a second consultation. Still organized by the Committee 21, this new session enabled an initial assessment of the commitments undertaken by the group in 2005.
From among the external stakeholders, the Committee 21 chose around fifteen organizations representative of community (environmental protection, North/South development, solidarity and human rights defense NGOs), des mondes associatif (ONG de protection de l'environnement, de développement Nord/Sud, de solidarité, de défense des droits de l'Homme), economic and social climates.
For AREVA's part, the group's functional departments were mobilized: Sustainable Development and Continuous improvement, Strategy, Financial Communication, Research and Innovation, Purchasing, Legal, Communication, International and Marketing, Safety, Security and Healthcare, Human Resources and the Mining business group and Renewable Energies business group.
The summary of this second "Stakeholders Session" shows:
- the issues tackled during the meetings,
- the action taken since the first session,
- areas for subsequent improvement.
Committee 21: first network of French players in sustainable development
Committee 21 - an association under the 1901 law - was founded in 1994 to contribute to achievement of France's commitments at the Rio Earth Summit. It now has more than 380 members across various institutions: companies, communities, associations, public institutions and media, VIPs and ex-officio members involved in environmental protection, fair trade, sustainable development education or international solidarity.
FAIRE Forum: promoting responsible investment
AREVA participated in the third SRI FAIRE Forum, "Annual Responsible Investment Forum in Europe", in June 2005. In particular, this first contribution afforded the group the opportunity to showcase the 10 commitments translating its sustainable development policy into action.
