MOX assemblies
MOX is a high-performance product obtained through recycling. It enables the product range for fuel to be diversified.
FIELD REPORT #2: Operations performance: Fuel Reliability
Close collaboration secures fuel performance and reliability. We share a common goal with our customers: to harness the highest level of expertise, innovation and in-reactor experience feedback for safe and successful fuel operation, no matter how tough the conditions may be.
MOX fuel is obtained through a mixture of depleted uranium and plutonium. Its performance in a reactor is equivalent to that of natural enriched uranium.
The composition of MOX assemblies is optimized based on the core management adopted by our clients.
This offer is made to our clients who hope to take advantage of the benefits of fuel recovery.
A diversified fuel portfolio
- High performance fuel assemblies for all types of boiling water and pressurized water reactors. Operators benefit from first-rate expertise and modern, high-performance technologies at every stage of the production cycle.
- A diversified and secure supply made possible through recycling.
- AREVA's unparalelled experience in recycling and in the design and manufacture of the assemblies.
A high-performance industrial tool
- Customers will benefit from the vast experience gained at AREVA's La Hague, one of the world's largest plant for the processing of irradiated fuel.
- Melox, our MOX production plant, will be increasing its level of production from 145 to 195 tons of heavy metal a year in order to respond to the growing demands of our utilities.
- To date more than 5,000 MOX assemblies have been manufactured by AREVA.
