Governance

Our commitment: Manage our operations in a responsible, ethical manner
In accordance with its values, the AREVA group has instituted the responsible management of its activities, it assesses and makes a true evaluation of its performance for its shareholders and all of its stakeholders.
Clearly-defined objectives
- To pursue the e-learning program, ethics and regulatory compliance,
- To carry out in-house training,
- To contribute to information and awareness training regarding Human Rights (HR) within the company,
- To participate in the definition of a mapping tool for Human Rights in the workplace, drawing inspiration from the &uot;BLIHR matrix&uot; (Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights).
For tangible results
A shared charter put into application by everybody
Drafting the Values Charter
AREVA has drawn up a Values Charter, following collective deliberations by management, and under the advisory guidance of the Scientific and Ethical Committee. The Charter, translated into 11 languages, sets out the group's values in terms of actions and codes of conduct.
Complementary programs
To accompany this charter, the group has implemented training programs such as:
- Awareness training seminars regarding ethics and values, for group managers
- An e-learning module based on role-play - aimed at raising awareness among employees about behaviors to adopt.
Every year, group managers sign a letter of compliance to the Values Charter and report the actions undertaken.
A strengthened initiative for human rights
AREVA is strongly committed to respecting and considering Human Rights within the company, through the use of policies and various initiatives, which all contribute to the continuous improvement process set out in the group's strategy.
Detailing and respecting our values
The group's Values Charter explicitly mentions Human Rights, along with the texts and principles that govern or promote the application of these rights.
Internally, policies and practices have been drawn up, approved, implemented and deployed by various operational deparmtents within the Group: Human Resources Department (salary issues, diversity, recruitment, etc.), the Sustainable Development and Continuous Improvement Department (health, safety, protection, environment, continuous improvement), deontologist (values and ethics), Procurement Department (responsible purchasing). Some examples of the policies implemented:
- Promoting diversity: hiring handicapped people (AREVA-Agefiph partnership 2006, Handicap France group accreditation 2007), gender equality, cultural and ethnic diversity;
- Promoting equal opportunities: November 2006 agreement with the European Metallurgy Federation;
- Deploying occupational health and safety and environmental protection policies;
- Fostering a balance between professional and private life;
- Assisting our suppliers in their own sustainable development programs;
- Health policy: health monitoring in Niger, commitment to fight AIDS.
Acting with our partners
Externally, AREVA plays a very active role in many international and French-speaking multi-sector working groups, alongside the control of dedicated initiatives.
Ambitious work programs, along with shared experiences and best practices between the members of these groups enable AREVA to broaden and structure its own Human Rights program. One may cite in particular:
- Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights (BLIHR),
- Human Rights Enterprise,
- French Study Center for Corporate Social Responsibility,
- Committee 21,
- United Nations Global Compact, and its &uot;Human Rights&uot; work group,
- The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
