The group’s operational organization

The group’s operational organization is aligned with its strategy of supporting the revival of nuclear power and the development of renewable energy. It is based on 5 Business Groups: Mining, Front End, Reactors and Services, Back End and Renewable Energy. In addition, the Engineering and Projects Organization cuts across our nuclear operations to support the entire group. This organization aims to increase synergies related to engineering among all of our operations and to continually improve how we respond to customer needs.
Business groups
The group’s operations are organized around 5 business groups.
The directors of these business groups are the group’s main operational managers. They report directly to the Executive Board.
- The Mining business group brings together all activities related to exploration for uranium deposits, the extraction and processing of uranium ore, and site rehabilitation after operations. To guarantee the supply of uranium to customers, the group relies on a diversified portfolio of mines. Today, AREVA is the world’s leading uranium producer.
- World leader in the front end of the nuclear cycle, the Front End business group brings together the activities of uranium conversion and enrichment, as well as fuel design and manufacturing for 2 types of light water reactors.
- The Reactors and Services business group designs and builds reactors for nuclear power plants, naval propulsion and research, as well as related equipment. It also offers the products and services necessary to maintain, operate, modernize and upgrade the capacity of existing nuclear power plants. In addition, it develops tools to detect and measure radioactivity.
- The Back End business group manages all operations at the back end of the nuclear cycle, from recycling used fuel to developing profitable uses for nuclear facilities following their cleanup and dismantling. It also offers transportation solutions for each phase of the cycle.
- The Renewables business group’s activities focus on 4 types of renewable energy: wind, bioenergy, solar and hydrogen. It meets the diverse needs of its customers within the framework of a mix of energy sources. Through its innovations and ongoing selective acquisitions, this business group exemplifies the group’s determination to become a major player in these areas.
Engineering and Projects Organization
In order to support the group’s nuclear operations, the Engineering and Projects Organization brings together expertise in: design, construction, testing, start-up, inspection and project management.
