In order to help boost track and field by building on the public enthusiasm that major events generate, AREVA is a partner of major events all year round, as the prestigious MEETING AREVA. A must on the international track and field calendar, the MEETING AREVA symbolizes the egalitarian and festive values of the sport. AREVA is also a partner of French championships.
The MEETING AREVA: a high point in track and field
The grand finale of AREVA’s commitment in terms of visibility, the MEETING AREVA is also a meeting of athletes with their public, a fascinating display of athletic prowess and a thrilling moment for all.
For the third year in a row, Usain Bolt will be up and running along the track of the Stade de France on July 8, 2011 for the MEETING AREVA.
But there is one change of plan! This time, the Jamaican star will compete in the 200m at the Parisian event. It is sure to provide quite a show for the spectators, as Bolt holds the world record (19”19), the Olympic title and the world title for this race. Bolt’s performance will surely be spiced up, as he will be dueling with France’s Christophe Lemaitre, the European champion of last summer’s 200m in Barcelona.
As usual, the French team will be well represented at the MEETING AREVA 2011. Two other 2010 European champions, Renaud Lavillenie and Myriam Soumaré, will be in the French lineup at the Stade de France.
The former, last year’s pole-vaulting champion, will attempt to hold on to his title. The latter will be lined up at the 100m starting blocks. Bouabdellah Tahri, the European runner-up of the 3,000m steeplechase, is also scheduled to compete in his signature race.
The French Championships
AREVA is involved in all the French Championships through its partnership with the French Track and Field Federation. These events constitute major appointments for the whole French track and field community.
European athletics indoor championships
AREVA was the national sponsor for the European Athletics Indoor Championships, which took place from March 4th – 6th at the Palais Omnisports in Paris-Bercy. Bringing together the best European athletes, this competition was the biggest meeting at the beginning of 2011.
