Protecting personnel from radiation

Any person who works in a group facility that uses radioactive materials, whether a group employee or a subcontractor, is informed of the risks involved and of the measures taken to prevent and manage the risks. The same training and the same level of protection is provided to all such workers, regardless of who their employer is. Employees are involved in risk prevention and in performance improvement. They have a duty to alert their supervisor if they observe blatant negligence or disregard for a legal requirement.
The ALARA initiative
Protecting workers from radiation, whether they are group employees or subcontractors, is a clearly stated priority. The basis of protection is the ALARA principle, which calls for radiation exposure to be "as low as reasonably achievable”. AREVA has set a goal of reducing the maximum individual dose to less than 20 millisieverts per year (mSv/yr) for employees subject to exposure in its facilities or who provide services at its customers’ facilities, regardless of the country – even when national regulations are less stringent.
This internal requirement applies equally to group employees and to subcontractor personnel. They all benefit from the same level of prevention and protection.
