The Tremplin association’s goals are to promote equal opportunities for students from disadvantaged high schools and encourage them to seek higher scientific education.
“Springboard” association Tremplin offers housing grants to students with financial difficulties for a room in a hostel near their high school. The AREVA Foundation has worked with Tremplin since 2010, and decided to renew and extend its support by financing seven young people for a period of two years
(2012 – 2013).
The association takes action at two levels:
Most of the students sponsored by Tremplin are in special scientific classes to prepare them for entry into a Grande Ecole of Engineering. During these two or three years of preparing for entry exams, these students must put a lot of effort into their work, including after class. They often live far from their schools and lose a lot of time commuting back and forth, which can reduce their chances for success.
Tremplin provides financial aid to underprivileged students by giving them housing grants for a room in a student boarding facility near their high school. The AREVA Foundation has chosen to support three of these students.
Some AREVA employees are volunteering to help out these young people, giving them the advice
they need, plus something that financial help does not necessarily provide: a human touch, and the confidence they need to fulfill their potential. Fourteen students in preparatory classes at scientific faculties or engineering schools are being sponsored by AREVA employees.
