13 employees supported in their community projects
The AREVA Foundation received around 30 entries in response to the AREVA Solidaires 2011 call for projects with the Group’s employees in France who do voluntary work.
The entries, on the theme of Sharing Knowledge and located in the countries where the group is based, address education support, adult training, scientific and technical awareness and help with building schools, etc.
The AREVA Foundation’s Board of Directors selected 13 projects that will be carried out in France, Brazil, Niger and the Central African Republic.

Building schools
Coup de Pouce Humanitaire
- Association: Coup de Pouce Humanitaire provides its local partners with tangible help as needed in organizing voluntary missions.
- Location: Bangui, Central African Republic
Project description: Construction of boarding facilities. Comprised of bedrooms, a kitchen, showers and a study room, it will enable 20 girls to continue their studies, helping to prevent premature drop-out from schooling.

Club de Coopération et Solidarité du Lycée Hilaire de Chardonnet

- Association: Club de Coopération et Solidarité du Lycée Hilaire de Chardonnet, of which most members are students, organizes collective actions on mutual aid and solidarity in developing countries.
- Location: Falmey, Niger
Project description: Construction of boarding facilities and 12 sanitary blocks to improve young people’s schooling conditions.
Activities for disabled children and adults
Handidanse
- Association: Handidanse / Handi’art contributes to the development of motor- or sensory handicapped teenagers and adults through dance and art.
- Location: Boulogne Billancourt, France
Project description: Bodily expression and dance workshop for disabled people paired with able-bodied individuals.

- Association: ADAPEI (association of parents of mentally handicapped individuals and their friends) – Les Papillons Blancs du Loiret
- Location: Orleans, France
Project description: Renovation of a playground at a special school for disabled children in Orleans. The playground allows educators and psychomotor therapists to improve the children’s communication with teachers and helps them to develop balance, learn colors, memorize paths and gain self-confidence. It fosters autonomy, the sensation of touch and the will to move and is a valuable teaching tool

Colombbus
- Association: Colombbus was founded in 2000 to foster education, training and employment for underprivileged populations through IT and the Web and, more generally, promote projects that support development.
- Location: Paris, France
Project description: computer programming initiation workshops developed in two middle schools in priority education zones in Paris’ 18th arrondissement.

Projet Bangui
- Association: "Projet Bangui" is designed to foster, develop and promote exchanges between Georges Brassens vocational high school in Bagnols-sur-Cèze and Sambonga high school in Bangui, the only technical high school in the Central African Republic, and to train French and Central African
- Location: Bangui, Central African Republic
Project description: development of a multimedia space with 14 computers, powered by an autonomous photovoltaic solution.

Cultural and educational activities
La Petite Bibliothèque Ronde 
- Association: La Petite Bibliothèque Ronde aims to make access to knowledge easier, particularly for children who are culturally and socially distanced from books, and play a local role in the district’s life.
- Location: Clamart, Cité de la Plaine and Cité des 3F housing projects, France
Project description: “Discover nature in my housing project” shows children the ecological wealth of their housing project and teaches them to love and respect it. The program includes surveys of insects, birds and plants, studying insect life, a photo safari in the housing project and the creation of a herbarium, all using books as teaching materials.

Planète ados

- Association: Planète Ados supports young people and their families at two schools in Vaucluse, Paul Eluard (Bollène) and Victor Schœlcher (Sainte Cécile des Vignes).
- Location: Vaucluse, France
Project description: at the two middle schools, students are trained in citizenship and young people in difficulty receive counseling from a psychologist twice a week in a specific room.

Les Petits Cracks
- Association: Les P’tits Cracks supports 6-17 year-olds with cancer who receive care in pediatric hematology services at Paris and Bordeaux hospitals by funding medical and teaching equipment and organizing cultural, educational and horse-riding trips.
- Location: Ile de France
Project description: cultural and educational trips organized for children and their families: concerts, theatre, cinema, exhibitions, shows, sport initiations, etc. – an array of fun activities to learn how to live again.

Entraide Scolaire et Amicale
- Association: Entraide Scolaire Amicale (friendly schooling mutual help) provides voluntary support for primary and middle school students whose parents cannot help or organize help for them because of a lack of knowledge or financial resources
- Location: France
Project description: cultural and educational trips organized for the children that the association supports educationally: theatre shows, exhibition visits, scavenger hunts to discover the town’s architectural and historical environment, etc.

- Association: Zup de Co aims to stimulate, support and develop young people from underprivileged districts, from elementary school through to the start of their working lives thanks to tutoring from community-minded students at leading schools and universities.

Project description: cultural and educational excursions organized to the Guimet museum for young people, production of related teaching material.

Adult training
Les Amis des Enfants du Monde
- Association: Les Amis des Enfants du Monde (Friends of children of the world) works to implement all kinds of resources to help children in distress worldwide
- Location: suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Project description: Training adults to be educators of young children in the community nurseries of the favelas around Rio. The training is primarily intended for women in the favelas who left school early because of distances and economic difficulties and represents a victory for them.

- Association: Le Rocher carries out educational and social actions in housing projects in France.
