Becoming the number one carbon-free solutions company
In order to position itself as leader in carbon-free electricity production, AREVA is fixing its objectives as:
- Constructing 1/3 of new accessible power plants
- Securing the fuel cycle for its current and future customers
- Developing technologically mature, long-term solutions for used fuel management
- Becoming a recognized industrial player occupying a significant place in renewable energy on three target markets: wind energy, biomass and hydrogen energy

Sustainable development is a keystone of AREVA's industrial strategy. In 2009, its activities aimed to guarantee the energy supplies of electrical power operators by providing them with solutions limiting greenhouse gas emissions.
The group integrates sustainable development in its management methods for all businesses through the AREVA WAY program.
This program includes the implementation of a methodology that enables all its operational management entities to self-assess their performance in relation to AREVA economic, social and environmental commitments.
Each unit therefore sets its progress initiatives to run alongside the group's strategic objectives. These are periodically reviewed with Corporate Management.
Safety - an absolute priority
Research into the highest level of safety in the implementation of our installations and our nuclear activities is an absolute requirement for the AREVA group. This priority for safety relates to the solutions offered to our customers and to the performance of our projects, the operation of our installations, recruitment and staff training. Lasting financial performance comes into the picture when it includes determined action to ensure safety for our workers, the general public and the environment.
Research and innovation is a major aspect for the group
AREVA's research and development programs aim to respond to customer needs. It focuses on safety, cost reduction, minimizing end waste, saving natural resources and preparing future generations of nuclear systems.
