Anne Lauvergeon

Anne Lauvergeon, Chief Engineer of Mines, studied at the École Normale Supérieure and holds a degree in Physics. She started her professional career in 1983, in the iron and steel industry and moved afterwards to Usinor.
In 1984, she managed the European safety studies at the CEA (Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique). From 1985 to 1988, she was in charge of underground activities in Île de France. In 1988, she was appointed Deputy Director of the General Mining Council.
In 1990, Anne Lauvergeon was named Advisor for Economic International Affairs and Foreign Commerce in the administration of the French Presidency. In 1991 she was made Deputy Chief in the Presidential administration and "Sherpa" to the President of France for the organization of international summits (G7).
In 1995, she became a Partner of Lazard Frères &Cie in Paris, spending several months in their New York offices.
In March 1997, she joined Alcatel group as Senior Executive Vice President for Alcatel Telecom. In 1998, she was made part of Alcatel's Executive Committee. She was in charge of the group's Industrial Participation sector in defense, energy, transport and nuclear fields (Thomson, CSF, Alstom, Framatome); she also supervises all international activities.
In June 1999, she was named CEO of the COGEMA group, (Compagnie Générale des Matières Nucléaires), since made a subsidiary of AREVA.
Since July 3, 2001, she has served as Chief Executive Officer of AREVA group.
