Gérald Arbola is a graduate from the Institut d'Études Politiques in Paris with an advanced degree in Economics. He joined the COGEMA group (which has since become a subsidiary of the AREVA group) in 1982, as Director of SGN's (an engineering subsidiary) strategy design and planning.
He was Chief Financial Officer of SGN from 1985 to 1989 and became Executive Vice President of that company in 1988.
He joined COGEMA in 1992 as Chief Financial Officer and became a member of the Executive Committee in 1999 while serving as Chairman of the Board of SGN in 1997 and 1998. Gérald Arbola has been a member of the Executive Board of CEA - Industrie since July 3, 2001.
Since September 2001, Gérald Arbola has been a member of AREVA's Executive Board. In June 2006, he was appointed the group's Deputy CEO and member of the group's Executive Committee.
