South Africa: Secours populaire

Psychological support for children affected by AIDS
The AREVA Foundation supports a program deployed by Secours populaire, a French NGO that fights against poverty and exclusion around the world, to provide psychological support to youth in Johannesburg who are affected by AIDS.
Creative workshops
The Secours populaire program aims to provide psychological support for children between the ages of 4 and 18 in the Johannesburg region who are affected by or infected with AIDS.
It sets up groups for writing, theater, design and so on where youth can express, share and overcome their trauma and set out on a positive path.
An opportunity to share emotions
Monthly meetings are a chance to assemble larger groups for song, dance, and moments of sharing and listening.
A candle ceremony honors the memory of the departed.
For the younger children, balloons carrying messages of hope are released at the end of the day.
