South Africa: Sidaction

Pediatric treatment of children affected by AIDS
The AREVA Foundation has joined forces with Sidaction to help children affected by or infected with the AIDS virus in South Africa. The teams are also supporting their families, particularly mothers.
Renewed access to health care
The AREVA Foundation supports Sidaction and the Kidzpositive program at the Groote Schuur Hospital (Cape Town). Its focus on pediatric treatment sets it apart .
Kidzpositive was one of the first programs that enabled access to pediatric care and true treatment of sick children.
Empowering mothers
This program has become a model for the comprehensive treatment of families affected by HIV/AIDS.
Mothers have the opportunity to join an economic and social support group and launch revenue-generating activities, including creating jewelry and pearl objects through the “Positive Beadwork” project.
In 2008, the AREVA Foundation extended its support for “Positive Beadwork”, which enabled the project to expand to the cities of Paarl and Worcester and work with 25 new families.
