Brazil: Fundação Gol de Letra

Educating and mentoring children in the favelas
The AREVA Foundation provides support to the Fundação Gol de Letra. This group educates and trains young Brazilians from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Fundação Gol de Letra: 2 renowned soccer players serving children
The Fundação Gol de Letra was created by retired professional soccer players Leonardo and Raï. It provides education and training to more than 1,300 disadvantaged children and youth in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Objective: to improve their daily lives and expand their future.
A welcoming place for mentoring
With the social and economic situation in the outskirts of these 2 large cities continuing to deteriorate, the AREVA Foundation wanted to provide support to central São Paulo. The northern Vila Albertina neighborhood is a particularly difficult area (unemployment, drugs, violence, etc.). The foundation is providing financial support for a cafeteria, a library, a toy library, computer equipment and staff.
Cooperation between all players
The Fundação Gol de Letra has succeeded in maintaining a relationship of trust with local residents and participants. The programs they have designed build bridges between families, schools and local partners. They support learning and provide children with a welcoming place to go after school.
