France: Year of Brazil

Year of Brazil in France

2005: honoring Brazilian culture

The group provided support for the Year of Brazil in France, a year dubbed "Brazil, Brazils". An opportunity to promote Brazilian culture and to raise public awareness about biodiversity and climate change in France.

Brazilian culture in all its forms

For more than 20 years, AREVA has maintained a close and rewarding relationship with Brazil. To further strengthen ties between the 2 countries, the group supported Year of Brazil in France in 2005.

Featuring over 300 events, "Brazil, Brazils" revealed the many facets of Brazilian culture to the French. The event, which spanned the entire year and every region of France, included:

  • cultural exhibits and contemporary art,
  • shows,
  • concerts,
  • films,
  • other events of all kinds.

In addition to expressing Brazilian culture in all its forms, authorities in both countries wanted to highlight economic and social issues to encourage exchange between France and Brazil.

Acknowledging biodiversity and climate change

In particular, AREVA supported the Year of Brazil in France’s opening exhibit entitled Brésil Indien: Les arts des Amérindiens au Brésil, at the Galeries du Grand Palais in Paris.

The exhibit was an opportunity for AREVA to participate in the promotion of Brazilian culture. It also raised public awareness about biodiversity and climate change, both of which are important issues for AREVA.

After this highly successful experience in France, Presidents Lula da Silva and Chirac announced their decision to organize a Year of France in Brazil in 2009
