Niger: Ateliers Sans Frontières

Reducing the digital imbalance in Niger
Information technology will play a crucial role in 21st century development. It’s why the AREVA Foundation, in association with Nigerian NGO EPAD and French NGO Ateliers Sans Frontières, supported the provision of computers to various partners in Niger.
Computers for schools, city halls and hospitals
It is essential that developing countries have technical capabilities and access to technology.
For this reason, the AREVA Foundation organized the handover of 175 computers to several Niger partners (schools, hospitals, city halls, etc.) in the Niamey, Agadez and Arlit regions in 2008.
These relatively new computers were refurbished by IT and electronics experts from the French NGO Ateliers Sans Frontières. More than 50 logistics experts work on contract with this association to extend the life of computer hardware.
Based on this success, the partnership was renewed in 2009 and 250 computers were distributed to associations and institutions across Niger.
