Central African Republic: CEDRISSE project

Inter-school exchanges and shared skills
AREVA is supporting the CEDRISSE project, which is spearheaded by the Bangui Project. Objective: to encourage, develop and promote cooperation and training exchanges between French and Central African youth.
An educational project: renovating workshops
The Bangui Project has set up an educational project called CEDRISSE, between the Lycée Professionel Georges-Brassens in Bagnols-sur-Cèze (France) and the Lycée Technique Sambonga in Bangui (Central African Republic).
Following restructuring, a decision was made to dismantle equipment at the Lycée Professionel Georges-Brassens. The CEDRISSE projects aims to collect all functioning equipment from the Lycée Professionel Georges-Brassens and use it in the Lycée Technique Sambonga.
In addition, students in their final year of a professional electrician diploma at the Lycée Professionel Georges-Brassens volunteered to participate in an 8-week educational project to renovate workshops at the Lycée Technique Sambonga and reassemble the equipment there.
Help that is appreciated by the local community
AREVA is supporting the CEDRISSE project alongside partners MELOX and CEA. The group is providing financial support for:
- container shipment,
- travel, vaccination and passport expenses,
- accommodations for the 24 participants.
The support was greatly appreciated by teachers in Bangui and by the local community. A second mission took place in April 2009 in order to finalize assembly of the equipment and to explain how it works.
