TVO launches request for proposal for 5th Finnish reactor

Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) has embarked on a request for proposal process to build a 1,000-1,600 MWe power reactor by 2010 at an estimated cost of 1.6 billion euros. TVO is expected to select the future reactor site by the end of next year. Several companies have expressed interest, including the AREVA group. Proposal evaluation will begin in the spring of 2003.
