Swiss Federal Assembly wants to maintain nuclear option
Brief
June 27, 2002
The National Council, the lower chamber of the Swiss Federal Assembly, has rejected the government's proposal to introduce limits on the service life of the country's five reactors and a ban on spent fuel reprocessing into the new energy law. The ten-year moratorium on reprocessing approved by the Council of States, the Assembly's upper chamber, has not been put to a vote for procedural reasons.
