CEA and COGEMA signed an agreement with Japanese NUPEC

Brief

May 22, 2002

On 24 April 2002, the CEA, teamed with COGEMA, signed an agreement with the Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation (NUPEC) of Japan relating to the FUBILA experimental physics program. The objective of the FUBILA program is to qualify Japanese boiling water reactors for MOX reloads (mixed uranium and plutonium oxide fuel) for purposes of plutonium recycling. The program adds another building block to ongoing Franco-Japanese scientific and technical cooperation in the field of nuclear power.
