First nuclear wine to be produced
Brief
December 03, 2002
Finland will be able to enjoy its own ice wine, a delectable liquor popular in Germany as well, courtesy of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant operated by TVO. Cooling water from the reactor passes through an underground heat pipe, creating ideal soil temperatures for 140 grape plants. The first harvest, in 2003, should yield 20-30 hectoliters of wine.
