Nuclear partnership for Paris and Moscow

In a joint statement issued February 10, France and Russia have indicated they will cooperate on nuclear power and safety. The pact includes commitments to environmental protection and the fight against nuclear terrorism. The countries also vowed to use surplus defense materials for peaceful purposes and to dispose of nuclear products and radioactive waste safely. Both have lauded the creation of a nuclear safety and security group by the G8.
