Excellent Final Year for COGEMA Resources' Cluff Lake Mine
Brief
February 13, 2003
The Cluff Lake Mine ceased production in December 2002 and is now preparing for decommissioning. Despite winding down operations, the mineworkers did not have a Lost Time Accident in either 2001 or 2002. Cluff achieved near record production in its last year producing 4.2 million pounds of U3O8.
Over its 22-year life, the mine produced more than 62 million pounds of U3O8. Cluff staff are now doing site clean-up work, mothballing the mill and awaiting regulatory approval to begin decommissioning.
