Lithuania and Poland want to connect to European electric grids

Hoping to connect to European electric supply systems, Lithuania and Poland have sent a joint request for €434 million to fund the project to the chairman of the European Commission, Romano Prodi.
Mr. Prodi indicated that the European Union may well be able to help the two countries, who will join the EU on May 1, 2004.
