US sets nuclear generation record in 2004

According to the Nuclear Energy Institute's (NEI) preliminary data, the USA's 103 nuclear plants produced a record 786.5 TWh in 2004, up from 764 TWh in 2003. The average capacity factor reached an estimated 90.6%. NEI anticipates an average production cost of 1.7 cents/kWh about the same as in 2003.
