German spent fuel arrives at Cogema rail terminal in Valognes

Four casks of spent fuel from German nuclear power plants arrived at the Valognes rail terminal owned by COGEMA La Hague on 17 May. All of the fuel will be placed in spent fuel storage pools at La Hague for a period of cooling.
They will then be reprocessed to separate recyclable materials and condition the final waste, both of which will be returned to Germany for storage and disposal.
