Publication of the law authorizing the MELOX extension
Press release
August 02, 1999
On Saturday 31 July 1999, the Official Gazette published the amending order concerning the MELOX plant. The extension accommodates the facilities for conditioning fuel pellets, rods and assemblies of diversified design. It enables us to meet the requests of utilities which have decided to recycle, in the form of MOX fuel, the plutonium produced by the reprocessing of their spent fuel at La Hague. The qualification program for the installations by NFI, TOSHIBA and MITSUBISHI is nearing completion. This sets the stage for the fabrication of the first refueling, consolidating the future of the MELOX plant.
