Spent fuel coming from Switzerland to France

According to the contract signed between Swiss utilities and COGEMA, and following intergovernmental agreements between France and Switzerland, part of the spent fuel from Swiss nuclear power plants is sent to France for reprocessing.
In accordance with these commitments, a shipment of two casks containing spent fuel has left the Swiss nuclear power plant of Gösgen on December 8th, 2004. It could reach the COGEMA Logistics rail terminal located in Valognes from December 10th.
This operation strictly conforms to national and international regulations.
