Arrival of spent fuel from the Netherlands at the Valognes railway terminal

Two casks of nuclear spent fuel from the power plant of Borssele (Netherlands) arrived at the COGEMA LOGISTICS railway terminal of Valognes on December 14th, 2005, at 10h50 am.
These fuel elements will be stored temporarily at the COGEMA-La Hague pools for cooling. They will be then reprocessed in order to separate valuable materials from the final waste. The latter will be conditioned and returned to the Netherlands for disposal, in accordance with the law.
