Treatment activity:
During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 28 tons of spent fuel.
From all treated assemblies, a total of 1112 tons have been processed to date this year.
During this period, 12 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in R7 and 5 in T7, vitrification facilities.
Since the beginning of the year, 851 canisters have been produced.
The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 16 canisters of compacted residues.
Since the beginning of the year, 1197 canisters have been produced.

One shipment of 2 casks of Nederlands spent fuel arrived on December 14th at the railway terminal of Valognes. It contained 14 spent fuel.
These fuel elements will be reprocessed in order to recover valuable materials and condition the final waste for its return to the Netherlands and disposal. According to the contract signed between Swiss utilities and COGEMA.
(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
