Transmission and Distribution: AREVA awarded 32-million euro contract in Algeria

AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution division has been awarded a 32-million euro contract with NAFTEC, a subsidiary of Sonatrach, for its oil refinery located in Skikda (North-East of Algeria).
AREVA will provide a turnkey installation composed of gas-insulated switchgear and power transformers. This equipment will ensure a power supply to the refinery, the biggest in Africa, and optimize its production capacity.
This new contract confirms the expertise of AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution division in the oil industry.
Moreover, Algerian Authorities’ will to invest in infrastructures in order to double the national grid capacity by 2012, confirms AREVA’s development plan in the country where the group currently employs 88 people.
