Update on the Socatri plant incident (23:10)

A series of environmental measurements were taken immediately following the incident that occurred overnight between July 7-8, 2008, at the Socatri plant on the Tricastin site (see first press release).
At the end of the afternoon on July 8, the results of these indicated no abnormal levels of natural uranium in the two lakes in the vicinity of the site.
The incident had no health impact on personnel or the nearby population.
A proposal has been made to the French Nuclear Safety Authority to classify the incident as INES* level 1 (out of a maximum seven).
