Jordan: AREVA and JAEC sign an agreement on uranium exploration
Press release
October 02, 2008
Dr Hamad Al-Kasasbeh, Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Jordan, Dr Khaled Toukan, Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), and Anne Lauvergeon, CEO of AREVA, signed on September 30th an agreement for joint exploration of promising uranium resource in the region of Central Jordan.
This agreement paves the way for a long-term partnership between AREVA and the JAEC in the prospect of the development of Jordan’s nuclear power generation program.
AREVA is delighted with the transparency and openness with which Jordan launched its process to set up a national nuclear power program and meet its substantial energy needs, providing all nuclear safety and non-proliferation safeguards.
These conditions will enable AREVA to offer its expertise as an end-to-end stakeholder in the nuclear cycle and to contribute to make Jordan’s program a success.
