Treatment activity:
In 2008, from all treated assemblies, a total of 937 tons have been processed to date this year, 792 canisters have been produced in the vitrification facilities and the facility of hulls compaction (ACC) reached a new record of production of 1530 canisters of compacted residues.

The shearing of EDF used fuel is in progress. From all treated assemblies, a total of 22,5 tons have been processed.from January 1st to 7th, 2009
During this period, 11 canisters of vitrified fission products has been produced(1) in the vitrification facilities.
The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 38 canisters of compacted residues.
(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
