EPR™ projects in Italy: AREVA is pleased with its customers’ confidence
Press release
NUCLEAR POWER / REACTORS ET SERVICES
February 24, 2009
Utilities ENEL and EDF announced today their plan for the joint development of a fleet of at least four EPR™ nuclear reactors in Italy[1].
AREVA expresses its pleasure at this announcement and is honored by the trust these two major customers have placed in it. With four EPR™ units under construction around the world, the technology’s performance is confirmed. This brings the total number of utilities who have chosen the reactor to 10.
AREVA enjoys close relationships with its Italian partners. For instance, the group won a used fuel treatment contract valued at more than 250 million euros from Sogin in May 2007. Discussions concerning new industrial partnerships are currently underway with certain suppliers.
EPR is a trade mark of AREVA group.
1 The outcome of the agreement is subject to developments in the Italian legislative and regulatory framework.
