Used nuclear fuel coming from Italy to France

According to the contract signed between SOGIN (Italian acronym for Company for the Management of Nuclear Facilities in Italy) and AREVA, and following intergovernmental agreements between France and Italy, part of the used fuel from Italian nuclear power plants is sent to France for reprocessing.
In accordance with these commitments, a shipment of four casks containing used fuel has left the Italian nuclear power plant of Caorso on May, 24, 2009. It could reach the TN International railway terminal located in Valognes from May, 26, 2009.
This operation fully complies with national and international regulations.
