AREVA CEO Anne Lauvergeon and Edmund Stoiber, Minister-President of Bavaria, attended the inauguration of the new corporate headquarters of AREVA NP GmbH at Erlangen on Friday, October 5, 2007. The ceremony marked the culmination of the construction project begun in 2005 and occurred in an environment of favorable growth in the worldwide nuclear market. In the afternoon, more than 1,000 employees celebrated the event in the new offices.
To the 170 guests – officials, industrial partners, and the press– Anne Lauvergeon stressed the importance of the Erlangen site for AREVA’s international development strategy. "Our group is aware of its ties to Erlangen and of the responsibility they imply. We will continue to maintain and development this important relationship", she emphasized.
AREVA NP GmbH Managing Director Ralf Güldner reminded the gathering of "the historical roots of the nuclear operations of the Erlangen site, and how this inauguration marks an important first milestone in the fantastic growth of AREVA's sites in Germany as well as internationally."
The site’s 1,500 employees will move into the new building, which represents an investment of 42 million euros, at the end of November 2007.
The 41,000 m2 building (~441,000 ft2) is equipped with ultramodern communications and conference systems in a modern, light-filled, transparent structure. "All of these qualities illustrate one of the founding principles of the Group: continuously fostering dialogue, particularly with our partners and our customers", concluded Ralf Güldner at the end of his speech.
