Start of construction of the first EPR in China

The excavation ceremony was held on August 26 at the Taishan site, in the presence Mr. Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong province and Mr. Qian Zhiming, Chairman of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPC).
More than 1,000 stakeholder representatives, including 3 representatives of the AREVA project management team headed by Thierry Rolland, General Project Director, EDF and Alstom attended the event. "This project will greatly benefit local economic growth and our efforts to control CO2 emissions in the area", said Mr. Huang Yunlong, Executive Vice-Governor of Guangdong Province during the ceremony.
To conclude the ceremony, Marc Andolenko, President of AREVA Beijing, expressed on behalf of AREVA, his congratulations to all parties who helped to reach this milestone and ensured CGNPC of AREVA's long-term cooperation.
