AREVA awarded for seniors career initiative

News brief

CAREERS / INITIATIVE

October 10, 2008

AREVA has taken home the trophy for "senior employee career development" at the recent Diversity Trophies, organized jointly by RH Diversity Consulting and Jean-Marie Peretti, HR professor and researcher at ESSEC.

On June 9, 2008, the group, where recruitment reaches 12,000 people every year, launched its seniors policy aimed at harnessing the skills of its most experienced employees to provide a concrete solution to the challenges presented by growth in the group’s business markets.

The initiative includes a dual process combining career management and transmission of know-how:

  • Career interviews are held with experienced employees to consider the career perspectives open to them in the coming 10 to 15 years.

  • An experience interview (18 to 24 months prior to retirement) to plan ahead of time how their know-how can be passed on and their experience shared.

AREVA also offers employees about to retire a provision enabling those wishing to pursue their collaboration with AREVA to do so.

To make this initiative a success, an internal network has been established including career/experience reference figures from management, expertise or HR, with special training in advising senior employees.

Philippe Vivien, AREVA Senior Vice President, Human Resources, described the approach as "a reflection of AREVA’s ability to look ahead to meet market growth. The experience of our senior employees and the effective transmission of their know-how is essential in enabling the group to optimize its preparations for the future."
