AREVA Marcoule started organizing visits for local municipal councils
In 2009, AREVA Marcoule started organizing visits for local municipal councils whose members include site employees. These meetings were launched as a result of local stakeholder mapping operations, which concluded that there was a need for hands-on information. From April to October, 80 elected representatives from ten districts in the Gard, Drôme, and Bouches-du-Rhône regions were given the opportunity to explore our facilities.
Bernard Dupont, who is both site superintendent in the Cleanup and Decommissioning Department and deputy mayor for the Boulbon district in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, summed up the feeling of his municipal council: “My fellow council members were very impressed by the scope of the site value development operations and by the teams’ professional skills. Visiting the very heart of a number of nuclear facilities also helped to demystify these operations for them.”
