May 06, 2011

According to the contract signed between SOGIN (Italian acronym for Company for the Management of Nuclear Facilities in Italy) and AREVA, and following intergovernmental agreements between France and Italy, part of the used fuel from Italian nuclear power plants is sent to France for treatment.

In accordance with these commitments, a shipment of two casks containing used fuel coming from the Italian storage site of Avogadro in Saluggia (Italian Piemont) is under preparation.

This shipment will be the second shipment of used fuel elements for this site and the eighteenth shipment for Italy.

This operation fully complies with national and international regulations.
