June 20, 2011

AREVA will soon organize a shipment of radioactive sources from France to the United States.

These radioactive sources of American origin have been used for research purpose by CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) and IRSN (Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire).

This transport will depart shortly from Cherbourg (France), heading to the United States where the sources will be delivered to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, a DOE (Department of Energy) site.

This maritime transport will be carried out by the British INF2 ship Atlantic Osprey.
