ACTIVITIES / REACTORS AND SERVICES
July 13, 2011
In May, the Bulgarian power plant operator KNPP (Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant) and AREVA signed a contract for electrical and I&C service in the Kozloduy units 5 and 6.
The two VVER reactors have a capacity of 1,000 MW and were modernized step-by-step during the maintenance inspection phases in the last few years.
“Our know-how is a major contribution to further improving the safety and reliability of the plant”, sums up Matthias Krell of AREVA. The 3-year contract follows a previous 2008 service contract, thus emphasizing the excellent long-term cooperation between KNPP and AREVA.
The services covered by the contract mainly include providing an on-site organization requiring AREVA employees to be in Bulgaria all year round during the entire contract term. Furthermore, the contract includes full service over the entire year and maintenance inspection work on the electrical and I&C systems and other individual systems.
