A campaign of treatment of used fuels EDF is in progress.
Since the beginning of the year, 856 tons of spent fuels were treated with the aim of their recycling, so allowing the recovery of energy still contained in every spent fuel (96 % of Uranium and Plutonium).
As regards the remaining 4 %, they are vitrified. 566 containers of vitrified waste were produced during this period.
As regards the facility of compaction of hulls, which assures the compaction of the metallic structures of used fuels, 1161 compacted containers were elaborated since the beginning of the year.
This compaction allows to divide by 5 the volume of ultimate waste.
