February 16, 2012
After being successfully manufactured and delivered in Kobe, Japan, on October, 2011 by our partner Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) for the Taishan 1 EPR™ reactor was shipped on-time to China.
This heavy component went from Japan to Hong Kong harbor for transshipping to a smaller vessel in order to approach the Taishan site's heavy jetty.
After some storing time on site, next steps will then consist in introducing the RPV in the Reactor Building of Unit 1 before completing its installation in the reactor pit.
The RPV introduction will be the next major milestone for the Taishan EPR™ project, after the successful dome installation of Unit 1 last October.
Field Report #9: Project Delivery
On October 23, the Taishan 1 EPR™ reactor built in China by TNPJVC reached a major milestone with the successful dome lifting.
Find out how this achievement is a good illustration of AREVA’s ability to convert lessons learned captured from Olkiluoto 3 and Flamanville 3 into solid results.
